Waimea, Facing Future :: Final Report

This is a report completed August 2006 for the Waimea Community Development Plan Committee, as work toward my masters degree in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at the University of California, Berkeley.


Report Summary

Audience
This study is aimed primarily at future members of the CDP steering committee, the consultants, and County staff. Residents interested in participating in the public CDP process will find it equally accessible.

Goals
The study's aim is three-fold:

  1. Collect and begin to interpret as much information about Waimea's growth, and community concerns prior to the official CDP process;
  2. Provide a preview of the issues and challenges to achieving community objectives;
  3. Demonstrate options that link community concerns and objectives to decisions about land planning and growth issues.

The content, analysis, and recommendations are my own, attempting to present an outside, rational, and professional interpretation of the information. The WCDPC assisted with outreach coordination and fact gathering on topics I determined important.
